Welcome to Sprig’s, a fresh café concept in the Carlyle neighborhood of Alexandria, Va. Our distinctive menu features an array of sandwiches and salads loaded with quality ingredients, international pastries handcrafted with care, and single-origin, ethically sourced Arabica coffee roasted by veterans transitioning from active duty.
As we hire staff and partner to source our ingredients, we seek to build an inclusive community with a common goal to help each person reach their fullest potential.
While a teenager, under the tenacious guidance of a chef in his Lebanese neighborhood, Café General Manager Abbas Ahmad learned the technique of making Mediterranean pastries.
The thin layers of crisp filo drizzled with his harmonious blend of delicately spiced syrup and chopped nuts became an artform. In the past 20 years, he has expanded his culinary talents while continuing to be known as the “king of baklava” locally, selling to hotels, embassies and the like. Ahmad has dedicated his life to preparing exceptional foods. At Sprig’s, he hopes to ignite that same passion in a new generation of chefs.

Proudly Serving “The Refuge” Coffee
Our signature coffee is roasted by veterans living in transitional housing provided by Catholic Charities Community Services based in Phoenix. The single-origin, 100% Arabica ethically sourced coffee beans are roasted in micro batches to maintain the highest quality and freshness. Proceeds from the sale of the beans support veterans in need and other at-risk individuals and families.
